Understanding Art
“everyone wants to understand art. Why not try to understadn the song of a bird? Why does one love the night, flowers, everything around one, without trying to understadn them?…” Pablo Picasso

Last year about this time I started an art class at the local community college; Art1, best described as in introduction to the elements, style and review of significant works through the ages. I enjoyed the class so much that I am repeating it this year. I am nearly embarrassed to admit that prior to the class I was oblivious to Art - sure I could pick out the Last Supper, The Mona Lisa, a Warhol, and pretty much any of the work from “Big” photographers but a Chuck Close or DuChamp could have hit me in the head and I would have been clueless. This weekend we had a class trip to the Berkeley Art Museum (BAM) and other then then acronym which brings up images of Emeril Lagasse I must say BAM was for me an unrealized treasure in the Bay Area. The interior is spacious and filled with natural light - SFMOMA and the DeYoung may be the big two in the Bay Area but if you love art you should keep an eye on whats on view at the Berkeley Art Museum. Less crowded, convienient parking and quality art up there with the best
So I’ve had version 1.0 (blogger) version 1.2
(blogger with customization), Version 1.4 (my first attempt at self hosting and
WordPress ) and today I am starting Mike’s Blog 2.0. No promises to anyone that
there will ever be anything here. 2.0 is for me, I might rant, rave, brag, be
silent, be loud, whatever.
